Animal Rehab Treatments Offered

Each modality has a different method of delivering a therapeutic treatment and will be selected based on the animals needs. The main benefits of modalities include reduced pain and inflammation and promoted healing. Modalities available at PARC include laser therapy (class IV), ultrasound therapy, electrotherapy (NMES, IFC, PEMF, and more).

Laser Therapy

Laser therapy, or photobiomodulation, is a form of light therapy where the light penetrates through the tissues and targets your pet’s damaged cells and helps them regenerate faster. This treatment accelerates the body’s natural healing process, decreasing pain and decreasing inflammation. Much like sunlight helps a plant produce energy, laser therapy helps energize your pet’s cells. There are different types and classes of laser therapy, PARC uses a class IV Companion Animal Health unit.

Hydrotherapy

Hydrotherapy is a form of physical therapy that involves exercising partially submerged underwater. At PARC hydrotherapy sessions are performed in our state of the art underwater treadmill chamber. The buoyancy of the water takes anywhere between 30% to 50% of your pets weight off of their achy joints allowing them to move with less pain, build more muscle, and increase range of motion. Allowing them to exercise in a controlled, pain-free environment.

Prescribed Exercise

Animals are active by nature. However, much like humans, a regular exercise program can keep them fit and increase their longevity. Specific exercises target specific muscles and movements, which in turn allow for better overall functioning. Whether your pet is recovering from an injury or surgery, has an acute or chronic condition or is returning to sport, at PARC, a customized exercise program will be prescribed based on your pet’s specific needs.

Manual Therapy

Manual therapy is a hands on physical treatment to address musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction. The benefits of manual therapy include improved tissue extensibility, increased joint mobility and range of motion, modulate pain, reduce soft tissue inflammation and facilitate movement and exercise.

In-Home Therapy

We understand that not every pet or owner is fully mobile. This is why PARC also provides mobile services, allowing your pet to reap the same benefits in the comfort of their own home.

Large Animal

Horses, amongst other large animals, can also benefit from laser therapy and Osteopathy services. Call PARC today to find out more!

Animal Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a form of manual therapy that uses gentle and precise palpation techniques to restore the functionality of tissues in the body. The body is viewed as a whole – where the symptoms appear may not be the origin or source of the issue at hand. Clearing the original cause of the lesion and all its compensation patterns can help relieve the discomfort and make it more of a long term solution. Treatment can consist of improving overall alignment, increasing range of motion in joints, decreasing muscle or tendon tension, and opening pathways for circulatory vessels.

Other Modalities:

  • Ultrasound Therapy
  • Cryotherapy/Thermotherapy
  • Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy (PEMF)
  • Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES)
  • Interferential Current Therapy (IFC)
  • TENS
